Ready to learn how to throw on the pottery wheel? This six week series is a hands on, beginner-friendly (and skill-building for returners) wheel class that walks you through the full studio process: from clay prep and safe studio habits, to trimming, glazing, and even how the kiln gets loaded. You’ll leave with practical skills, a stronger understanding of how pottery works, and a collection of finished pieces you made yourself. What You’ll Learn Over six weeks, you’ll build confidence with the wheel while learning the behind-the-scenes steps that make great pottery possible. Clay basics: types of clay, wedging, moisture management, reclaiming, and how to avoid cracks/warping Throwing fundamentals: centering, opening, pulling walls, shaping, and troubleshooting common issues Studio setup & safety: tools, cleanup, dust control, and safe habits around equipment and materials Trimming & finishing: when a piece is ready to trim, creating foot rings, refining forms, and handles (as time allows) Glazing: glaze safety, dipping/brushing basics, glaze combinations, and how to get consistent results Kiln loading (intro): how pieces are spaced, why kiln shelves are prepped, and what makes a load safe and successful Perfect for total beginners who want a structured start. Students who’ve tried the wheel once or twice and want to solidify skills. Anyone who wants to understand the whole pottery process not just throwing.

There are no refunds for class registrations unless the class is cancelled by the studio. We will however offer credits on a case by case basis.
