Service Description

Join Mike, our resident woodworker, for a fun and unique 2-week course that will see you create your own 20"x20" wall-hanging abstract mountainscape with wood and acrylics! In the first session, students will decide on the colour scheme they'll be using in their piece that will compliment the room it will live in and establish the energy it will have and the mood it will set. They will then determine the unique skyline of their mountainscape using pre-cut pieces of Western Red Cedar to establish how much of their final work will be "sky" and how much will be "mountains." They will paint their "sky" using Mike's unique style of colour application and expressive brush strokes and then wrap their work by gluing it into its frame. On Week 2, now that the frame has been glued in place and had time to cure, students will install their wooden mountainscape foreground, smooth everything out with sandpaper, apply an oil/wax finish to all the wood, and add its hanging hardware. At the end of the two weeks, students will have a beautiful new addition to their home decor, made some memories (and hopefully a few new friends), and learned a few things about using wood as an artistic medium in general, as well! Class is limited to SIX students, so book your space while you can! No experience is necessary, and no dangerous power tools will be used by the students. All supplies and materials are provided.
