Service Description

In this hands-on pottery class, students will create a one-of-a-kind platter using handbuilding techniques. Then we'll elevate it with rich textures (optional) and beautiful tissue-transfer imagery. We’ll start by building your platter form (think serving platter, snack board, or decorative display piece) using slab and handbuilding methods that keep things beginner-friendly while still giving experienced makers lots of room to play. From there, you’ll learn how to add depth and personality with texture tools, stamps, and found objects creating surfaces that feel as good as they look. Students are welcome to bring objects they'd like to stamp. To finish, we’ll explore tissue transfers: a fun, magical technique that lets you print delicate designs onto clay for an illustrated, layered effect. You’ll leave with a platter that’s uniquely yours—full of texture, story, and handmade charm.
