Service Description

Intermediate Wood Turning: Small Bowls Instructor: Mike Davies October 22, 1-4 pm In this class, students will learn the basics of bowl turning and (hopefully) leave with a finished, handmade (approximately 6-inch in diameter) wooden bowl they made themselves out of their choice of wood species. We will begin with discussing the available wood options and looking at an example of what a finished product of each species could look like. The instructor will then do a demonstration on proper bowl turning techniques before students turn their bowls with one-on-one oversight from the instructor. Please Note: This is NOT a beginner woodturning class. Students should be familiar with lathe use and safety before registering, either by taking a Crow’s Nest “Introduction to Wood Turning: Pens” class or have some RECENT experience with wood turning. Also Note: There is no guarantee your bowl will be successful and you will leave with a finished product. The instructor will do his best to get everyone through the process, but wood is an organic material, and as such, it sometimes contains unseen cracks and/or imperfections that can cause things to go sideways. This is also part of the reason that students need to be familiar with lathe operation and be comfortable with the material and tools before taking this class. All supplies included. $165+GST Due to limited space, as well as time and safety constraints, this class is limited to only THREE participants per session, so register now to secure your space!
